Art as a Service — A Creative Stewardship Initiative

“Art as a Service” is a repeatable initiative that brings original, large-scale artwork into spaces as an act of service, generosity, and spiritual contribution.

Founded by artist Chris Joubert, the program partners with churches and community organizations to transform newly built or renovated environments—filling empty walls with work that creates a sense of presence, peace, and intentional design.

The inaugural installation was completed in partnership with PX Project, located within St. Luke’s UMC Gethsemane – The Garden—a space designed as an urban refuge for teens. Over 15 original works were installed throughout the building, alongside custom-fabricated metal tables for the outdoor gathering areas and integrated artwork within shared spaces such as the café and entryway.

Each Art as Service project follows a simple but intentional structure:

1. Partnership
A ministry or organization identifies a space in need of visual and environmental transformation.

2. Commissioned Offering
Joubert creates a cohesive body of work specifically for the space—donated or partially funded through sponsors, donors, or the hosting organization.

3. Installation & Integration
Artwork is installed throughout the environment to enhance the experience of those who gather there—supporting reflection, connection, and a sense of belonging.

4. Community Impact
The work becomes part of the daily life of the space—serving youth, families, and communities in a lasting, tangible way.

This model allows art to function beyond decoration. It becomes a form of service—supporting ministry environments, strengthening community spaces, and contributing to the emotional and spiritual atmosphere of the people they serve.

Future installations will expand this initiative into additional churches, youth centers, and community-focused spaces—inviting partners and donors to participate in creating environments that are both visually compelling and deeply meaningful.
